Overview:
The West Bengal Madhyamik (Class 10) results
were declared on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 9 am on wbresults.nic.in or
wbbse.org from the press conference being held at the WBBSE office in Kolkata.
The overall pass percentage stood at 85.49% in comparison to last year's
85.65%. East Mindnapore topped among the districts by securing a pass
percentage of 96.13 per cent followed by West Midnapore and Kolkata. Kolkata
secured a pass percentage of 91.11.
WBBSE Class X (Madhyamik
Pariksha) exam was conducted from March 12 to March 21 at 2,819 centres across
the state. This year, around 11,02,921, candidates appeared for the exam. Out
of these, 6,21,366 were female aspirants while 4,81,555 were male candidates. According
to latest information, 8,99,564 candidates have successfully cleared the
examination. The number has dipped in comparison to last year.
For every 1,000 male
candidates there were 1,209 female candidates this year. It proved that parents
are sending more and more daughters to school and encouraging them to study at
least till the Class 10 level. The number of female candidates were more in the
minority community too. There were 1,02,620 male Muslim candidates compared to
1,74,678 female candidates from the community.
Ranks:
As
many as 56 students featured in the top 10 ranks. However, there were only two
students from Kolkata schools in this list. Out of the six students who
occupied the first three ranks, three were girls. Take a look at the first five
